PRP hair treatment is a non-surgical procedure that stimulates hair follicles
by using the growth factors found naturally in the client’s own blood. It is
an effective alternative hair restoration treatment, particularly for men and
women in the early stages of hair loss.
PRP hair treatment is an in-office, same-day procedure that offers the
benefits of hair restoration without the downtime and expense of surgery.
This proactive treatment is an excellent alternative for clients with minimal
or early hair loss, or clients looking for preventative or maintenance hair care.
Human blood contains growth factors that work together to generate and
heal tissue. Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, contains approximately 5 to 7 times
the amount of platelets, offering an impressive boost of growth factors.
PRP has been shown to have a great potential in skin rejuvenation, rapid healing, reduced infection, and a decreased chance of scarring. It has been used for years to treat sports injuries by stimulating stem cells, and has caught the attention of professionals in the fields of plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, and more.
As some types of hair loss result from damage to hair follicles, researchers discovered that PRP could help regrow hair by reversing the process and causing restorative growth.
Among the many benefits of PRP hair treatment are:
Effective treatment for early hair loss
Increased hair density
Decreased shedding of hairs
Reversal of thinning hair follicles
Very safe to use, with no risk of rejection
No downtime or recovery period
Non-invasive, in-office, same-day procedure
Affordable alternative to surgery
The entire PRP hair treatment procedure is fast, painless and non-invasive, taking approximately 45 minutes to an hour on average. During a PRP hair treatment, we draw a small amount of the client’s own blood, and spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red blood cells and the plasma. Meanwhile the scalp is disinfected, a topical numbing cream is applied or a nerve block is performed. The high concentration of platelets is then injected into the thinning areas of the scalp using a very small needle, promoting rejuvenation of existing hair follicles and reversal of hair miniaturization. As a result, the existing hair becomes thicker, stronger and healthier.
For optimal results, a second PRP hair treatment is scheduled 6 to 8 weeks after the initial session.
As PRP is naturally found in the blood, it’s very safe to use with no risk of rejection or downtime.
